On 19th October 2020 the German Ambassador, Matthias Schauer, handed over two ventilators to the Lubaga hospital. The Ventilators are part of the support from Germany to improve capacities of the Lubaga Hospital to assist the fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Uganda. The assistance is implemented by the aid agency Malteser International which has a long standing partnership with the Lubaga hospital. As part of the support to Lubaga Hospital in response to the Covid-19 pandemic Malteser International with German funds has facilitated the establishment a COVID-19-isolation unit at Lubaga Hospital, financed training of the hospital staff on how to effectively contain COVID-19. Malteser International further focused on the implementation of a functioning triage system which is essential to prevent hospital infections amongst risk groups or staff. Lubaga Hospital has become an important cornerstone in Uganda’s COVID response in Kampala.
